Last week, we welcomed a group of work experience students to Hunterlodge for two days, giving them a chance to experience what life inside a marketing agency is really like.
Across the placement, they met people from different parts of the business, learnt about the variety of roles within an agency and gained an understanding of how projects develop from an initial client brief through to delivery. Along the way, they discovered there’s far more to marketing than creating adverts, gaining an insight into the strategy, planning and collaboration that sits behind every campaign.
At the end of the placement, we asked the students to reflect on what had stood out most. Their ideas covered everything from the importance of teamwork and organisation to thinking creatively, managing time effectively and seeing how different skills come together to produce great work. It was encouraging to see just how much they had taken away in such a short space of time.

To finish the experience, the students were invited to sit in on a live tender pitch led by our Managing Director, Kim McLellan. It gave them a fascinating insight into how agencies compete for new business and the amount of preparation, strategy and presentation that goes into winning new clients.

We hope the two days gave everyone a better understanding of the industry and perhaps even inspired a few future careers in marketing.
